Stand up for Northamptonshire

Posted on 23rd Nov 2018 in Campaigning, Northants County Council

Yesterday we called for our MP, the Secretary of State and this Conservative Government to stand up for Northamptonshire.

The County Council, which has been run by the Conservative’s since 2005, has a £133 million black hole in the budget.

We’re asking for:

➡️ A commitment from the government that they’ll cover the cost of the reorganisation they’re imposing on us

➡️ A residuary body to be set up to deal with the debt so any new authority isn’t set up to fail

➡️ A public inquiry into the mismanagement by the Tories at the County Council

➡️ A fair funding review so our county’s services can be funded on a sustainable basis

➡️ The cost of the three commissioners, sent in by the government to make savings, to be paid for by the government, and not us - they cost around half a million pound a year!

Share if you agree that our MP, the minister and the Government should commit to the above!
