#GE2019 Results
Posted on 22nd Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
I'm so sorry we couldn't do it here in Corby and East Northamptonshire. We worked so hard but just couldn't buck the national trend. I met so many people desperate for change. Men and women broke down in tears telling me how they're struggling to survive. I am sorry we couldn't deliver the much-needed change.

My time working in defence
Posted on 11th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
I worked on defence policy for a number of years in my day job and in my free time I ran Labour Friends of the Forces – the organisation reached out to vets to ask what could Labour do to help the community and we encouraged those who were interested in politics to stand for Parliament. In 2015, we supported three veterans from the Army and RAF to stand for Parliament.

School cuts of £7m
Posted on 9th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
Schools 🫠in this constituency have lost almost £7 million 😮. The Tories claim schools have more funding than ever before but that isn't the situation we see on the ground.

This election is more than brexit
Posted on 9th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
The Tories want this election to be all about Brexit - that is because their record in government is abysmal - they're bailing on tv debates because they can't defend their record in government 🤦ðŸ»â™€ï¸

Russian Funding
Posted on 9th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
Boris Johnson says he wants an investigation into various government leaks but oddly he doesn't want to publish the report into Russian interference in our politics which includes major donations to the Conservative Party.

Small Business Saturday
Posted on 9th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
Yesterday was Small Business Saturday. I love this campaign - it's about encouraging us all to embrace the unique businesses in our area. We all know they have a tough time with the current pressures on the high street and rise of online shopping so it's important to recognise and celebrate these smaller businesses and make an effort to shop local.

Police commitments
Posted on 9th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
Our police station was closed by the Conservatives in 2017. They repeatedly said it wouldn’t happen but it did.
With the help and expertise of the late Mary Butcher and Mick from PubWatch, I submitted a number of Freedom of Information requests. The responses revealed the true extent of the damage of Conservative cuts to our police.

GE2019 Keep The Ban
Posted on 6th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning
If the Conservatives get in, there's likely to be a vote on repealing the current fox hunting ban. My Tory opponent has already publicly said he'd vote to repeal if given the opportunity.

GE2019 New Build Regulation
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
Over the past few months, I’ve become aware of some issues with existing property law and rights of those who buy new builds ðŸ . Issues in both Priors Hall and Little Stanion have made clear to me we need reforms.

GE2019 PM's comments on single parents
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
Did you see the news over the weekend? The news that Boris Johnson, yes that's right, the current Prime Minister, in the past referred to the children of single parents as 'ill-raised, ignorant and aggressive'. I guess Eton didn’t teach him compassion or understanding eh?

We need our Parliament to be more representative
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
Do you think it's important that those seeking to represent us have 'normal' experiences and understand everyday struggles that most people in this country face? I certainly do.

90% of schools here are being cut
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
Schools in this constituency have lost £7m, that is £400 per pupil.
These cuts mean overworked teachers, fewer teaching assistants, larger class sizes and damage to our children’s future.
I believe every child should have a good education like the one I received under the last Labour Government. I want that for young people growing up today.

GE2019 Poll Update
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
Disappointing to see the national poll by YouGov but it does show that this constituency is very much in play and with two weeks to go, I'm in with a fighting chance. Your vote could make all the difference here and after almost 40 years we could have someone from here, someone who really 'gets it' representing us and fighting our corner in Westminster.

🚨📯REVIVE OUR HIGH STREETS📯🚨
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
I accept the world is changing but people still need physical access to basic services like the Post Office and banks – we need to look at innovate ways to keep them local.

WASPI Campaign Compensation!
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
I'm so pleased with the news today that if Labour win the election, women born in the 1950s will be compensated for the hardship they have faced as a result of the increase in the state pension age.

Brooke Weston School Visit
Posted on 5th Dec 2019 by Beth Miller in Campaigning, News
I had a lovely time at my old school today talking to Sixth Form. It was great to see so many young people interested in politics and energised to vote and have their say on our future. Lots of topical questions on the future of local government, Brexit and how I'd deliver for our community.
Thanks for making me feel so welcome and best of luck for the future!
